DESCRIPTION
Our goal is to support marginalized communities in Mexico City, whose situation has worsened as a result of COVID-19. With your help, we can sustainably support an entire community in Xochimilco during these moments of confinement. We want to collect $35,000 pesos to deliver 1200 meals, for two weeks together with "Las Madrinas".
Las Madrinas are a group of women, who are in charge of collecting money and providing 600 weekly meals a day to vulnerable people in Xochimilco. All investment goes directly to the community, from the use and purchase of local ingredients, to the preparation and delivery of meals. Any amount of money you can donate will be appreciated. In return, we will conduct an informational program to promote community education on virus containment measures, and to clarify myths and facts about vaccines.

Dra. Marina Escalera Zamudio
PhD in biology specializing in evolutionary virology. Graduated from UNAM, she currently works at the University of Oxford as a researcher. His line of research is based on studying the ecological and evolutionary interactions between different emerging viruses (such as the SARS-CoV-2 virus) and animal populations (including human populations). Within the area of genomic and epidemiological surveillance, he leads interdisciplinary projects between Mexico and Oxford, such as "REEED-SOCIAL", to study how viruses enter, spread and establish in human populations. He also works analyzing different social / anthropological factors (in addition to biological ones) that influence these processes. In a personal way, he has an interest in the history and philosophy of science, as well as social and anthropological issues such as science and the misrepresentation of scientific reasoning in the modern world, among others.
