Benefits of Practicing Vogue
His story
Today Vogue is considered an underground sports dance and has been open to the entire population. It represents the evolution of House dance and was born in the Afro-American LGBT community of Harlem in the 60s. The dance is characterized by hosting positions that simulate photo shoots from fashion magazines. It was massively popularized from the documentary "Paris is Burning" and the video clip of Madonna from "Vogue." Today, artists like FKA Twigs, Lady Gaga and Ru Paul are inspired by it or dance to it.
In the 1960s and '70s, the young African-American drags of Harlem felt free to be themselves and question ideas about masculinity and femininity. The youths lived together in houses that celebrated dances, in which the members of each house competed in a catwalk-type battle which was judged on their costumes and dance skills. It was during these dances that voguing was born. Vogue Femme is a dramatic and openly feminine dance style, which consists of five elements: catwalk, hands, turns, falls, duckwalk and floor performance. Includes high-speed stunts along with smooth, flowing, continuous shapes.
